DeBearj JewellersEthical Sourcing, Repairs, Maintenance & Care
We are doing our part in using recycled precious metals and conflict-free diamonds and gems in all our jewellery.
All our diamonds and gemstones are ethically sourced from site holders and companies who adhere to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme:
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) imposes extensive requirements (*) on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough diamonds as ‘conflict-free’ and prevent conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate trade.
As an eco-friendly alternative to natural diamonds, we also offer lab-grown diamonds and moissanite in variety of shapes and colors.

Maintenance + Care
Jewellery is one of our most intimate and cherished accessories. Understanding how to care for and protect your treasured collection can make all the difference in maintaining its beauty and keep it sparkling for generations to come.
Your jewellery is unique, and every piece will require special care and handling depending on the types of metal, type of gems, and the style of setting that it incorporates. Use this as a general guideline in caring for your precious collection.
These precious gems, both natural and lab-created, are the hardest and most resilient gems. A diamond will not scratch, but it will possibly chip if hit in the right place or at the right angle. Sapphires, rubies, and moissanite set rings may scratch if abused or neglected. We highly recommended removing your rings during activities such as biking, gardening, house chores, and exercise. Your rings will last longer and stay in tip-top shape.
Pearls, Coral, Ivory, Amber
These organic gem materials require gentle care when wearing and cleaning. Use lukewarm water and mild detergent and dampen a clean cloth with this solution and gently clean. Wipe dry with a clean towel and let air dry. If you have a pearl strand, store the pearls flat to avoid stretching out the strand of silk thread. Store in a breathable pouch to prevent drying and discoloration.
The safest cleaning methods are also the easiest. Most jewellery can be cleaned with warm water, mild dish soap (no detergents), and a soft brush. Be sure to rinse your jewelry in a glass of water to remove cleaning solutions since you risk losing loose stones or even an entire piece of jewellery if you rinse directly in the sink.
These gems come in a variety of beautiful colors but are, in general, less resilient than diamonds, sapphires, and moissanite. The same care principle applies to semi-precious stones, and with extra care, you will enjoy wearing them for many years.
Settings come in different styles, and all offer unique looks and degree of protection to the stones that are held in place. The density, size of setting, and size of the gemstones set contribute to the durability and security of the piece. Types of settings include bezel, channel, prongs, gypsy, and various forms of pavé.
Pavé settings are the most common setting used on smaller diamonds as they showcase the small stones the best. Due to its delicate nature, pavé set rings will require extra care and checks to ensure that the metal has not worn down. We highly recommended removing pave set rings during high impact activities such as gardening, exercise, and heavy lifting where the ring may bend and loosen the set stones.
We strongly recommended that you insure your items for loss, theft, or damage after receiving it. Jewellery is most commonly insured as a rider on your homeowner’s or renter’s policy or through companies like Jeweller’s Mutual, which specialize in jewellery insurance.
